Charter in Defense of Human Rights
We Elmeco Ltd. recognize and strongly affirm the universal and intrinsic importance of human rights, as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other relevant international and national instruments. We firmly believe that respect for human dignity and the fundamental rights of every individual are indispensable principles for a responsible and sustainable business. As CEO, I am aware of our company’s responsibility to help create a world in which human rights are respected, protected and promoted in all our operations, along our supply chain and in the communities in which we operate. This commitment is not only an ethical imperative, but also critical to our long-term success and to building a better future for all.
Our Commitments
With this Charter, Elmeco Ltd. commits to:
- Respect Fundamental Human Rights: We are committed to respecting all internationally and nationally recognized human rights, including civil and political rights, as well as economic, social and cultural rights.
- Non-Discrimination and Inclusion: We ensure an inclusive and respectful work environment, free from all forms of discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, national origin, or any other condition protected by law. We actively promote equal opportunity for all employees and contractors.
- Dignified Working Conditions: We ensure safe and healthy working conditions, guaranteeing fair wages, working hours in accordance with regulations, the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining, in full compliance with Italian laws and international standards. We are committed to firmly opposing child labor and all forms of forced or compulsory labor.
- Privacy and Personal Data Protection: We protect the privacy and personal data of our employees, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders in accordance with applicable Italian and European laws, ensuring transparency and security in the processing of information.
- Responsibility in the Supply Chain: We adopt a due diligence approach to identify, prevent and mitigate human rights risks within our supply chain. We will work with our suppliers to promote ethical standards and respect for human rights.
- Relations with Local Communities: We interact with the communities in which we operate in a responsible and respectful manner, listening to their needs and seeking to contribute positively to their social and economic development, while fully respecting their rights and culture.
- Redress and Reporting Mechanisms: anyone who becomes aware of a potential violation of the “Human Rights Charter” is encouraged and required to report it. Reports can be made to:
– The direct supervisor;
– the Human Resources Office;
– directly into the “reports to management” box located in the lobby.
Elmeco guarantees that no retaliation will be tolerated against anyone who reports an alleged violation in good faith, that reports will be investigated, and that where appropriate, remedial action will be implemented. - Transparency and Reporting: We communicate regularly and transparently about our progress and challenges encountered in pursuit of these commitments through our corporate communication channels and through sustainability reports.
- Training and Awareness: We promote human rights training and awareness among our employees at all levels in order to create a corporate culture that values and respects fundamental rights.
- Continuous Due Diligence: We are committed to continuously monitoring and evaluating our human rights impacts and taking preventive and corrective measures to continuously improve our practices.
As Chief Executive Officer, I take full responsibility for promoting and upholding these commitments within Elmeco Ltd. I will ensure that the necessary resources are allocated for the implementation of this Charter and that the protection of human rights is integrated into our strategies, policies and decision-making processes.
